General Questions

This topic is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) topic, which is exactly that - a place where most common questions we get are asked. Normally forums would say "read through this first before asking questions," but with so much going on here at any one time we encourage everyone to PM a staff member (or anyone for that matter, we have dozens of helpful members) if you need any help, or alternatively hit the 'reply' button and ask anything here. This topic is simply here for guidance and to helpfully help you know a little about DXX before you get stuck in.

General FAQ
Q: How do I sign up?
That's always the best place to start, so click here to join DXX if you haven't already.
Q: Where are the rules found?
A: You can find the rules in the 'Forum Announcements' board (where you're reading this), by clicking "The Rules" in the sidebar on the left, or more specifically here. These are the original rules, slightly modified and updated for the new generation of DXX. They are updated regularly and continuously, so please keep checking back if there is anything you are unsure of.
Q: Can I advertise my own forum?
A: Yep, that can be done in the 'Advertise And Affiliation Board,' which is here. You're free to advertise there as much as you like, and in your sig of course, but please do not advertise via PM. This is one of the biggest no-no's of DXX, and doing this will get you a warning. But hey - why would you want to advertise that way and potentially get yourself banned when there's a perfectly good board to advertise in, right?
Q: Do I stay 'in character' all the time?
A: No. In most of the e-fed boards you stay in character, such as within the show boards etc. Everywhere else on the forum you can simply be yourself. That might sound complicated but it is fairly self explanatory.
Q: Can you 'bump' graphics requests?
A: Yes you can, but only after a two day (48hr) period.
Q: How do you get images to show up on the forum? I can only post a link!
A: Ah, stuff like that requires a little knowledge of something called UBBC (or UBB) code. Mr. McMahon has put together a useful guide to UBBC code, which is here.
Q: What are the Top E-Fed links?
A: They're rather cool sites where a lot of E-Feds are listed. Basically, if you click on the links and vote for DXX, the forum gets noticed more and more people visit the site, which makes it grow.
*Please note, these will be added at a later date.*
Q: dxxfta.proboards.com is a little hard to remember, is there an easier way to access the forum?
A: Yes there is. If that's too hard to remember you can always type d-xx.co.nr into your address bar, as it's shorter and easier to remember. You can also always bookmark us to make it even easier still :-)
Q: Who's in charge of DXX?
A: Mr. McMahon is the admin of the forum. Assassin is his co-admin and together they form the site's management at the current time.
Q: How do I become a member of staff?
A: If a staff vacancy becomes available you will be asked personally to become a member of staff by an admin. Please don't beg a staff member or drop hints asking to become staff as this won't do you any favours.
Q: How do the Member of The Month competitions work?
A: Towards the end of each month the Member of The Month competition is run by Mr McMahon and occasionally Assassin. To start off with we have a nomination stage where certain people (current General Managers, the previous winner and one or two people associated with the graphics area) can nominate who they think deserves an award, and once that's done everyone can then vote on their favourite for that month.
Q: How do I get nominated then?
A: A good start is to remain active, make interesting posts, perform well in the e-fed and help out whenever possible. Basically you need to stand out from the rest of the pack to become member of the month.
Q: I have some questions that aren't covered here...
A: Don't worry, as mentioned at the beginning of this topic if you have any further questions either reply to this topic or contact a member of staff.

Roleplaying FAQ
Q: Do I have to roleplay to be a part of DXX?
A: Not at all, we have many members here who just want to discuss wrestling, share graphics or anything in general rather than being in the e-fed. Roleplaying is completely optional.
Q: How do I register to roleplay?
A: Simple, click here to sign your contract, or click the "Sign A Contract" button on the sidebar to the left hand side of the page. Fill out the form as best you can, taking care to complete all of the mandatory fields correctly. Only the personal OOC information at the end of the form is optional - everything else must be completed. A General Manager will either accept or reject your application based on whether or not you have filled out the form correctly. Assuming all is good, you are good to go!
Q: How do I roleplay?
A: You simply imagine yourself as the character you signed up with, and either challenge someone to a match, introduce yourself to the other wrestlers, whatever you like really as almost anything is possible. Edge Head 4 Ever has found a very useful guide to roleplaying, found here.
Q: But what can I type?
A: To an extent whatever you like. All that we asked is that you don't use bad language (stars are accepted though), or control someone else's character.
Q: What do you mean, 'control another character'?
A: Exactly that, you can't control anyone other than yourself as it causes a lot of problems. You can find an explanation here.
Q: My roleplaying isn't that good, does it matter?
A: Nope, it doesn't matter at all. You can be the best roleplayer in the world or the worst, everyone is welcome to roleplay on DXX. After all, we were all new to it once so you'll gradually learn over time. Come on in and learn from some of the best on the net :-)
Q: What show will I be on?
A: As DXX is a recently relaunched website, we will be running a single show for the time being - Monday Night Massacre. You will be on here, though as with DXX: The Rebirth, if the site grows big enough quickly enough then more shows and a developmental area will also be included in order to maximise enjoyment and learning.
Q: DXX Rated? What's that?
A: .....I didn't name DXX Rated at all there, but seeing as you asked it was the developmental / training area on DXX: The Rebirth, this site's natural predecessor. Rated won't be back on From The Ashes just yet, but if things grow then we are always open to bringing it back.
Q: How do I get a match once I've signed a contract?
A: Go and see your General Manager, issue an open challenge or think up any other inventive way you can think of getting a match. Once you have a match you'll need to post what's called a 'match roleplay' which can be found in the board list of your show. You do not need to submit a match roleplay if you don't want to, general roleplays count towards determining whether or not you win as well.
Q: How do I become a champion?
A: That depends on a number of factors. Most importantly in order to win one you need to have fairly decent roleplaying skills and be regularly active.
Q: What happens to my character if I become inactive?
A: Firstly, if you're going to be inactive for a week or two you won't be put in a match until you return. Simply put, if you don't roleplay you usually won't be put in a match so don't worry about that if you think you'll automatically lose while you're away. However if you request a match and then don't submit at least one roleplay chances are you will lose, this is called 'no-showing.' If you leave DXX by way of simply becoming inactive for a long period of time and not telling anyone you're not coming back then your character will be free to be portrayed by another member. Time scales for this are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Q: What's the DXXPedia?
A: The DXXPedia is our very own personal wiki, with the same layout and format as Wikipedia. It serves as a database for the past, present and future of DXX, and includes past PPVs, Superstars and other information. It also now spans two websites, beginning with DXX: The Rebirth, and will now continue to serve as our present official Wiki.
Q: Can I contribute?
A: Certainly. Because of a recent vandalism problem you'll need an account to edit or create pages, and you can do that by PMing Assassin. He'll give you a username and a random password which you can change to anything you like once you're logged in.
Q: Is there a topic where I can view this year's PPV Schedule?
A: There will be, but until the e-fed firmly re-establishes itself and a GM is appointed this isn't really available at the moment.
I hope this helps our new members, any further questions please feel free to PM a member of staff or reply here and we will do our best to help :-)
