For anyone who doesn't know this game got some truly savage reviews:
Gamespot - 45/100 Giant Bomb - 40/100 Destructoid - 30/100
It got some good reviews as well, but opinions are very, very mixed. I personally love it having completed two of the three campaigns so far, each lasting well over 6 hours each so in effect it's like having 3 games in one, in addition to various bonus modes and being able to play in other peoples' games online as an enemy which I think is a nice tough.
So, has anyone else played Resident Evil 6 and if so what do you think of it?

I have not yet played it.
But I will be renting it soon and if it's good I'll buy it, I did hear some people say it was a bad game, probably the worse in the series, but I can't say if it is or isn't.
All I'm going to say is that If I fight more humans shooting at me then I do zombies I will be a very pissed off person ;D.
I did read your tweet from yesterday and hope that it really is a good game and most of the reviews came from non-resident evil fans as I love the series.

Believe it or not a lot of the negativity comes from people who are fans of the series - they don't like it because it's so different from the earlier games. It's a fair point to an extent, there's very little horror in the series anymore since RE4 but that's just how it is, for what it is it's really enjoyable and in Leon's story in particular there are loads of zombies to mow down so don't worry there.
It's much better than 5 which I also enjoyed, put it that way.

I also enjoyed Resident Evil 5 it had an interesting storyline, the only thing that is really turning me away from the Resident Evil series is how much the zombies have changed, and I hate change, I don't think they should be able to carry weapons. While it does make it a bit more interesting I just hate change and think zombies should be how they've always been. But I'll purchase this on Friday ;D

Leon's campaign primarily features zombies, luckily. They're old-school slow moving ones too, some carry weapons but have no idea what to do with them - zombie firemen carry axes and just swing them wildly and zombie SWAT guys spray machine gun fire all over the place so it's pretty much how you'd expect zombies with weaponry to behave.

Would you suggest it to someone who hasn't really played the Resident Evil games?

Hard to say, there's a lot of history over the six main games and eff knows how many spinoffs, but it's easy enough to grasp the story of RE6 on its own. So yeah, it can be played first, but I suggest doing a bit of reading on the characters at least so you have a rough idea why they're doing what they're doing.
Also if you can play the rest of the main games as they're generally excellent, 1-3 are on the original Playstation and I'm sure I don't need to mention how to find those easily enough, and 4 and 5 are incredibly cheap to buy. Saying that, I've read about Australia's government being a bit... strict on certain games, are you even able to buy RE6 over there?

I have no idea, I haven't been to the shops to see in a while. To be fair, I've never really been interested with RE, just because of all the (what I feel) unneeded story behind a lot of things. I have played some of the RE games, most being the spin-offs, I played a bit of RE5. Character wise, I'm not too fussed about not knowing their intentions, I do know some basic stuff.
Just want to say, the 6 on the cover looks like someone giving an anthropomorphic giraffe a blowjob

alright, I finally got off my lazy butt and went and purchased this so I can now have a say I have only played Leon's campaign, and I've started Chris's. But I will say I like Leon's the best thus far mainly because on the old-school zombies. I don't like zombies running after me with weapons. So uncool . But it definitely is a good game and I've noticed the three campaigns kind of go together so that's awesome too . btw. Leon is my favorite character
