Here we are ladies and gentlemen at this – DXX’s third PPV, and the very first interactive PPV since DXX was launched! The stars are backstage getting greased up, the fans are seated, we are all in position so let’s get this show on the road!
*Michael Cole is seen with a Mic*
.:Cole:.
Welcome To Cyber Sunday! Im here to Interview Randy Orton’s 3 possible Opponents - JJ James , Tito and Kane. I’m gonna ask you one question before it's announced who faces Orton , What is your game plan going in to this match and do you feel good that you guys have had a while to prepare for Orton but he has no clue who he's facing - does that make a difference?
*Kane comes into view with his menacing smile. He rips the mic from Cole's hands.*
.:Kane:.
You only need to know one thing. That is, it doesn't matter who wins, they lose. Because you see, if I want something, I don't stop until I get it. Otron will fall, JJ James will fall, Tito will fall, and Gallagher will fall. So consider the IC title mine!
*Kane drops the mic and grabs the camera and crushes it in his hands, then gives it back to the camera man and walks out laughing...*
.:JJ James:.
I’ve been in the ring with Orton 3 times - I’ve beaten him twice and I pray that I’m chosen so I can beat him a 3rd time and move on for MY I.C. Championship!
.:Tito:.
You know what? I know I will kick Orton's ass. So tell him to bring it. Now, that’s if I get enough votes to wrestle him for the number 1 contendership for the I.C. Title.
Michael Cole has not left the No 1 Contenders and has now joined up with Vince McMahon, T-Mac and Batista – the three people possibly taking on Assassin later on this evening.
.:Cole:.
Im here to Interview Batista , T-Mac and Mr. Mcmahon Before the winner of the polls are announced I just need to ask you guys what will you spend the money on?
*McMahon looks back at Cole*
.:McMahon:.
That's none of your damn business Cole - just remember, I pay your wages! All I want to say, is that should I be voted to take on Assassin, I can garauntee - that's garaun-damn-tee - that I'll kick his keister into next week's RAW where he'll be staring down the barrel of a loaded gun - he made a big mistake when he messed with Vince McMahon, and I fully intend to make sure he learns that lesson the hard way!
You see, Asswipe thinks he's the Mutt's Nuts round here now he's the Commissioner - a post which he screwed me out of our match in order to get. Now it's time to teach that little SOB some respect!
*McMahon walks off camera, clearly psyched up for the possibility of facing Assassin. T-Mac and Batista just look at Cole, and walk off following Mr. McMahon – showing that the Corp are indeed fully united in their struggle against X-Factor.*
Randy Orton’s music hits, and he gets into the ring, looking cocky – he seems confident due to him being garaunteed this match from the start. Now, backstage to Michael Cole, who will announce Randy’s opponent……
.:Cole:.
Here we are ladies and gentlemen – the moment of truth. The 3 competitors are Tito – an impressive young star with the opportunity of a lifetime. We also have Kane – another new star who has made an immediate impact here in DXX. And last, but by no means least, it could be JJ James – the guy who has been feuding with Orton and is 2-1 up in their series! Now, let’s see who won the vote……
It’s KANE! KANE GOT THE OPPORTUNITY!
*Kane smiles and walks off camera*
Kane’s music hits and he walks down to the ring to a nice reception, despite being a heel he’s already established himself as a fan favourite – made clear by the fact they voted him into the Intercontinental Title contention! He gets into the ring, the bell sounds and the first match gets underway…..
No 1 Contender’s Match – IC Title: Randy Orton vs Kane
To begin with Orton tries to lock up with Kane, but the Big Red Machine simply throws Orton across the ring. Orton looks surprised as he stares into Kane’s eyes – he has only now realized the strength he is up against. Incidentally, it’s surprising that JJ James didn’t get into this match, considering the recent bitter feud between the two.
Back to the match now and Kane is hitting a few punches into Orton’s head, before power whipping him into the opposite turnbuckle. Randy hits it back first, and flies forward landing face first onto the mat. Kane picks him up by the head, and hits a couple of throat thrusts which makes Randy gag for breath – looks like he connected right at the windpipe. Kane hits a knee to the guy, and lays a beating on Randy’s back, once again sending Orton face first into the mat.
Kane is in total control here, and is smiling to the crowd – and they’re giving him some applause for his dominance already tonight. He goes to pick up Orton again, but is countered with 1 punch to the gut, and a second, a third, and a fourth, and now Randy is back on his feet with Kane bent forward, clutching his stomach. Orton hits a running knee lift, but Kane just stands up straight and stares at Orton. Orton hits a kick to the gut followed by ANOTHER running kneelift, but Kane just does exactly the same again, before this time pouncing at Orton, running him back into the turnbuckle and he hits a series of shoulder rams to Orton’s torso, and Orton is AGAIN struggling for breath – great psychology so far from the Big Red Machine. Kane gives it a little taunt, which Orton doesn’t look too happy with….he stands there staring with distaste at Kane, before quickly launching himself at his opponent – and that was QUICK. Orton rams a load of rights and lefts onto Kane’s head, and he gets up before landing a quick elbow drop and standing legrop. Orton picks Kane up and Irish Whips him, but Kane ducks the clothesline attempt and bounces off the opposite ropes and shoulder barges Orton, sending him down. Kane is giving the signal! He picks Orton up, and grabs his throat! He lifts him up high, but Orton grabs Kane’s head and manages to escape his grip! RKO! Orton landed his trademark RKO! He goes for the cover…1……2……3! That’s it! Orton managed to pick up a win! Controversial, considering Kane DOMINATED there!
That’s only incidental though – Orton got the pin, and is the new no 1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship!
The lights dim, and suddenly the tron fires to life, and for the second show in a row the crowd are treated to a bonus video! Here is what they see…….
Hmmm……interesting. Incidentally, the crowd just gave a load of boos there – god knows that this fella has planned for when he comes back. That is of course, IF he comes back – everyone is just assuming it’s him. Who really knows?
We are now gearing up for our next match which will be for the Intercontinental Championship! Wayne Gallagher has proved a valiant champion so far in his relatively short reign, but tonight he could break a DXX record – he could become the first ever Intercontinental Champ to successfully defend the title more than once! That said of course, Kurt Angle has been a thorn in his side since day 1, and Kurt will clearly be vying desparately for the title. Let’s see what type of match it will be:
Steel Cage! The IC Title will be determined inside a solid steel cage! Wayne Gallagher is already strolling down to the ring, and he’s smiling! A chance to shed some of Kurt’s blood, and of course he recently re-joined his old buddies at the X-Factor, and tonight he could break that age-old DXX record! He gets into the ring and plays to the crowd, and now here comes the challenger – the wrestling machine himself, Kurt Angle! He enters the ring and tonight’s first title match gets underway!
Steel Cage Match - Intercontinental Title: Wayne Gallagher (c) vs Kurt Angle
The cage is lowered down across the ring, and the bell rings. This match can ONLY be won via the escape method – pins, submissions, DQ’s etc are all out. Only the man who can escape can pick up the victory here. Wayne and Kurt lock up in what must be about their 100th battle – this feud has lasted a while by DXX’s standards, but it’s still as enjoyable as it was at the start!
Kurt takes the early upper hand, as the challenger manages to wriggle around Gallagher and hits an early belly to back suplex, landing Wayne right on the base of his spine. Kurt has begun The Corporation’s assault on tonight’s PPV well, taking the early advantage. He hits a nice European Uppercut on Gallagher, before a kick to the gut is followed up by a crisp snap suplex. Angle rolls back over his neck, so he is now sitting on Wayne, and he hits a sneaky eye-gouge! No DQ’s here! Kurt is laughing as he takes his hands to Wayne’s face and hits an eye rake! Kurt is using the No DQ rule to his advantage here, clearly working on Wayne’s eyes. That might just prove a smart move in a match like this!
Kurt resumes the assault by locking in a lie-down sleeper hold. Wayne is fading…..going, going, gone! Wayne is out cold from that sleeper hold, which was being executed hard by Kurt Angle. Kurt senses the opportunity, and he’s gonna climb the cage already! He’s made it over the ropes, and now it’s just a matter of transcending the cage and down.
Wayne has managed to regain some degree of consciousness in the meantime, and staggers to hit feet, before falling face first into the cage! That sent Angle flying – he was about 9 feet above the ropes there, almost at the top, and he’s landed head first onto the mat! Wayne COULD take advantage, however it was simply instinct that caused him to make his own save there – he’s still extraordinarily dazed. Both men are down, but the ref can’t make a count, because as mentioned before this match can only be won via escape.
Wayne is first to his feet slowly, and he stumbles toward Kurt and lays a European Uppercut of his own, and he hits a Fireman’s Carry-cum-Samoan Drop on Angle, which is bound to make anyone dizzy, and he has a bad back thrown into the bargain. Nice move there by Gallagher, but he’s not done yet. He picks Kurt up and launches him face first into the cage wall, and Angle lands on the top rope and falls down between ropes and cage. Kurt is being contorted here! Wayne takes Kurt up again, and knocks him on the top turnbuckle, and hits an X-Factor. I don’t know why he stopped using that as his finishing move – it always knocks his opponent out cold nonetheless. Wayne begins climbing the cage, and he’s at the top! Wayne stands atop the cage, playing to the crowd, and glances back down at Kurt. He’s turning around – what the hell is he gonna do here?! He FLIES – literally – through the air, hitting a perfect frog splash onto Kurt Angle! HE HAD THE DAMN MATCH WON! WHATS HE PLAYING AT?!
That will have taken the wind out of both opponents there! Somehow, Kurt manages to use the ropes to help him to his feet, and he gets there before Wayne can even do much more than move. Kurt goes towards Wayne, and he hits an Angle Slam! Angle Slam on the Champion! Angle goes toward the cage, and slowly but surely he begins to climb – he wants this title so bad!
Kurt is climbing so slowly! In fact, he’s going slowly enough for Wayne to get to his feet, and the champ grabs Angle’s boot, preventing him from getting any higher. Wayne then begins the catch-up, and now they are level, about 2/3rds of the way up the cage! They are trading blows whilst suspended in mid-air with only the cage supporting them! Kurt spit in Wayne’s face! The challenger actually SPAT in Wayne’s face! Wayne nurses his eyes, whilst Kurt begins to climb again! HE IS GONNA DO IT! KURT GETS TO THE TOP!
BUT NO! Wayne grabbed Kurt’s neck, and uses the leverage to get to the top himself! Both men are standing on top of the cage trading rights and lefts! Kurt punches Wayne! Wayne is dangling – trying desparately not to fall off! Kurt goes to hit a static clothesline, but Wayne ducked it! Kurt goes flying to the mat! Wayne gives the crowd a salute, and descends the cage! He’s done it – Wayne is now officially the most successful Intercontinental Champion in DXX history!
HERE IS YOUR WINNER, AND STILL INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION: WAYNE GALLAGHER
What a match! That was just the highlights of it! These two guys always put on a great show, and tonight was possibly the best one yet! Kudos to Wayne, but you gotta give Kurt his props – he was fighting to the last, despite getting hit by a stiff X-Factor!
Next up, we see a vid for Assassin, and his recent encounters with all 3 of tonight’s potential opponents. Looks like Assassin will get the chance to win $10,000 next! His music hits to a great ovation – they love this guy. He gets into the ring, and carries on playing to the crowd until the poll comes up on screen….
Now, to see who his opponent will be:
MCMAHON! Mr. McMahon has FINALLY won something – a poll! He won a poll to face Assassin, and he looks determined as he struts down to the ring. He gets into the ring, and both men get in each other’s faces. The bell rings, and the match is underway.
£10,000 In A Suitcase Ladder Match – Assassin vs Mr. McMahon
So here we go – Assassin vs Mr. McMahon part 2! They begin with a bit of trash talking which is out of range of the mics, so I can’t report exactly what is being said. McMahon goes to punch Assassin in the side of the head, but Assassin blocks and sends McMahon to the mat with a punch of his own! Assassin goes to pick up McMahon, who hits a left and a right to the abdomen of Assassin, and then throws Assassin from the ring.
McMahon quickly dusts his hands and looks at the crowd, who are booing him out of the place! He climbs out of the ring after Assassin, but he’s been given too much time – Assassin was playing possum, and he launches at McMahon with a diving headbutt, followed by a ringside ram! That had to smart a touch! Assassin goes under the ring and grabs a ladder, and proceeds to drag it right into McMahon’s stomach, sending the boss to the mat in pain.
Assassin throws the ladder into the ring, and goes to slide in under the bottom rope – but he’s evidently decided that would be TOO easy, and rolls back outside near to where McMahon is lying down. He picks up McMahon, and lifts him high above his head – and drops him face first into the guard rail! That old chestnut! Assassin shakes a few of the fans’ hands and poses for a couple of pics whilst McMahon gets his bearings and gets back to his feet. Assassin notices McMahon is now slightly back into the land of the living, and he then proceeds to whip McMahon into the ring apron. Assassin is smiling as he rolls McMahon onto the apron, and climbs to the top! But wait a moment, he’s getting in the ring, and picking up the ladder! What’s he gonna do here?? Assassin sets the ladder up against the corner turnbuckle, and climbs it! He’s about 20 feet high now! He jumps! He went to hit a flying legdrop onto McMahon on the apron, but McMahon managed to move out of the way, and Assassin landed right on the edge of the apron – something which is bound to give him a dead leg!
McMahon crawls out of the ring, and slithers over towards Assassin. He rolls him back into the ring, and hits a legdrop across the throat. McMahon goes to set up the ladder, and begins to climb – it’s a long way to that suitcase! That was never gonna be enough to stop the Commissioner though! Assassin gets up, and simply pushes the ladder down! McMahon was near the top, and he landed on the top rope right between the legs! If he really is as virile as he claims to be, that should put him out of action for 6 months!
Assassin stands, watching McMahon desperately try to climb off the ropes, and eventually does so via falling flat on his face. Assassin picks up the Chairman, and whips him off the ropes, before hitting a back bodydrop right onto the ladder! McMahon landed spine first straight into the ladder. Assassin now picks up the ladder, and lays it across McMahon’s body. He’s gonna try it again! He climbs to the top, and this time he connects a splash, crushing McMahon’s body under the impact!
Randy Orton appears at the top of the ramp! Some of you may or may not already be aware he was offered a spot in the Corporation! But other than that, what the hell business does he have out here – he already won his match tonight! He strolls down to the ring, and gets Assassin’s attention. Orton climbs into the ring and stands nose to nose with the Commissioner! What is he gonna do??
The pair look over at McMahon and begin laughing! What the hell! Assassin picks up McMahon, and props him against the ropes, and Randy is setting up an RKO! HE HIT ASSASSIN! RANDY ORTON JUST RKO’D THE COMMISSIONER! He moves over and slaps McMahon to revive him, and sets the ladder up for him! That sellout! He’s sold out to the Corporation! McMahon begins slowly climbing, whilst Orton keeps an eye on Assassin, lying ever so still in the ring! McMahon is at the top, and he retrieves the case!
HERE IS YOUR WINNER: MR MCMAHON
McMahon climbs back down, and shakes hands with Randy Orton! They hug, and McMahon makes moves towards Assassin. ORTON RKO’D MCMAHON TOO! Randy Orton has hit the RKO on BOTH competitors! He stands up and looks at the two bodies in the ring and begins to laugh – the crowd don’t know what to make of this! He gives McMahon the finger! He just flipped the bird to the boss! He then moves over, and picks up the ladder, before drilling it into the small of Assassin’s back! Orton leaves the ring, smiling from ear to ear, and poses for the crowd, who are giving the Legend Killer a very mixed reaction here!
Both McMahon and Assassin begin to stir, and sit up at almost the same time. They give each other a look that could freeze hell over! They both turn to Orton and stare at him, looking furious. Orton just smiles and waves bye bye as he vanishes backstage.
Next up, a video is played hyping the tag team champions, Samoa Joe & The Rock. They shocked the world when they took the tag team titles from ICP, who were the one and only holders of the titles previously. The Ministry are next out, and Undertaker & HBK walk down to the ring – no sign of JJ or Candice though, they must have been asked not to go to ringside. Now we go backstage and see the poll results to determine what type of match tonight’s match will be….
Elimination Rules! Tonight’s titles will be decided in a remarkably appropriate fashion – there will be 2 or 3 eliminations tonight! The first team to eliminate BOTH opponents will win the titles! The guys know what’s happening now, and so Joe & HBK lock up to begin tonight’s match….
Elimination Rules – Tag Team Championships – Samoa Joe & The Rock (c) vs The Ministry of Destruction (HBK & Undertaker)
Joe gets the early upper hand, locking HBK into a reverse chinlock after ducking HBK’s punch attempt. Joe jumps up and hits a back cracker! He covers HBK…1….2…kick out by HBK, pretty easily really. Joe follows up with another chinlock, but HBK rolls onto his back and rolls Joe over, before flipping up and hitting a dropkick. HBK is in control now, and he grabs Joe’s head and goes over and tags in his partner, the deadman!!
Taker comes in before hitting his well known roundhouse routine, which ends with a HARD throat thrust, sending the tag champ flying. Taker stalks Joe, waiting for him to stand, before hitting a big boot. Joe lies flat on his back, and Taker gives an early signal! He picks Joe up, and he hits a Last Ride! Cover!
1…2….The Rock came in and broke up the cover. HBK runs in, and he and the Rock fall over the top rope, still brawling to the concrete floor. The Rock clearly didn’t want to have to face these two guys on his own. Back to the ring, and Taker picks Joe up and throws him across the ring – not many people can man-handle Samoa Joe the way that Taker is doing so here. Taker goes to pick up Joe, but Samoa has brass knucks! He whallops Taker with them – HOW DID THE REF MISS THAT?! He goes for the cover…1….2…kick out! Wow – Taker kicked out after being hit rather hard with the brass knuckles!
Samoa Joe crawls to his corner, and manages to tag in The Rock – his brawl with HBK has dispanded and they are now both in their own corners. The Rock comes in for the first time, and goes absolutely mental on Undertaker – punches, kicks, armdrags – you name it! The Rock is lining it up – Rock Bottom! 1….2…..it’s HBK’s turn to break up the cover. The Rock looks at HBK, and hits a running kneelift, closely followed by a clothesline over the top rope – HBK is back to the concrete! The Rock turns around, and is promptly chokeslammed by Undertaker! 1….2……3! The Rock is eliminated!
So, it’s now The Ministry vs Samoa Joe – what chance does poor Samoa Joe have here? He reluctantly gets back into the ring, as The Rock rolls out of there with his head in his hands…..he sits down and looks genuinely upset that he’s been eliminated.
Samoa Joe starts brawling with Undertaker, and succeeds in getting the upper hand. He whips Taker, and goes for a Big Boot himself, but Taker ducks it and hits a flying clothesline on the rebound. Taker and HBK are smiling here – they have the tag titles within their grasp! Taker tags in HBK, who is going for a Sweet Chin Music! Joe ducks it, and hits a flying forearm to Shawn, sending him on his back. Taker comes in – and goes straight for Samoa Joe! He lines him up and hits a Last Ride! NO! Joe countered it with a DDT! Taker landed right on the crown of his head!
Joe turns around, and HBK hits a Sweet Chin Music! Shawn hit it! He goes for the cover…1….2…last moment kick out! Joe dug down deep, and found his last bit of energy to kick out. Taker makes moves towards Joe – this is a constant double team! BUT THE ROCK CAME IN! The Rock speared Taker! Joe hits his trademark move, the Coquina Clutch on HBK! Will he tap?? He does! HBK taps! He got him! Now it’s a straight one on one battle between Samoa Joe & The Undertaker for the tag titles!
Of course, one might argue that Joe COULD have been DQ’d for Rock’s interference there, but the ref mustn’t have considered that out of the rules! Controversial decision by the ref there, and if the champs can retain you can be sure that questions will be asked!
Joe and Taker are slowly hitting rights and lefts on each other, with Taker eventually sending Joe to the ground. Taker is giving it another signal! He’s gonna go for a Last Ride here! He picks him up, but Joe counters AGAIN! Joe goes for an armtwist, but Taker reverses, and climbs the Turnbuckles and hits an Old-School! Haven’t seen that move for a long time! The challengers are in control!
Taker is staring down at Joe, who is lying on the mat. The crowd begin cheering loudly! It’s The Rock! He’s taken Taker’s Urn! Undertaker begins hurling abuse at The Rock! Joe rolled him up! 1…2….3! THAT’S IT! THEY’VE DONE IT AGAIN!
HERE ARE YOUR WINNERS, AND STILL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: SAMOA JOE & THE ROCK!
Wow! How did Samoa Joe manage to defeat both members of the Ministry mainly on his own?? Whatever the method, he succeeded, but as said before, you can be almost certain questions will be asked about the ref no disqualifying Joe! Not that that would have meant the Ministry got the titles of course, but they would have won the match!
Next up is our one and only match which remains – the Main Event, for the WWE Championship! Edge’s music hits and he walks down to the ring, completely ignoring the boos from the crowd. He gets in – he’s focused, that’s for sure! Next up is CM Punk’s music, and the WWE Champion bounces down to the ring to the biggest pop of the night – this guy is already a DXX legend! They are both in the ring, and turn to face the tron to get the results of the poll to determine the match stipulation. And here it comes…..
INFERNO IN A CELL! Only the second EVER Inferno in a Cell match, and it was a practical landslide! The competitors have both frozen – this match is, as once described by the current Commissioner, the most barbaric match which is legal in the West – they will both be lucky to get out without having been on fire, let alone get out without any burns!
For those of you who don’t know, this match is a brainchild of Mr. McMahon, and it is basically a Hell in a Cell Match with the ropes and turnbuckles set on fire. The gap between the ring and the cell isn’t quite as large as it is in a HIAC, and as a result the fire melts away the top layers of steel of the cell – meaning anyone so much as looks at the cell in the wrong way and they will be burned to hell. The match can only be won via pinfall or submission – escape is futile, not to mention impossible.
Anyway, back to the show, the bell rings and our Main Event gets underway!
Inferno In a Cell Match – WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) vs Edge
CM Punk and Edge stand staring at each other, as the ref sets the ropes alight, and the Cell – the second structure to be lowered around the ring this evening – takes it’s home for the evening next to the burning hot flames. Everything is in position, and the competitors begin the match with a test of strength – it’s a game of peanuts!
Both men interlock their wrists, and begin their battle. Edge gets the first victory, sending Punk to his knees, but in traditional fashion Punk gets it back, sending Edge to HIS knees. Edge headbutts Punk is the stomach, and the champ staggers backwards, only to be followed by the challenger who unloads a series of elbow shots right on Punk’s spine.
Edge smiles, and he hits a running bulldog, sending Punk face first into the mat, and it looks like Punk’s nose has been busted open! Edge takes the champ’s head, and throws him into the Cell wall! Punk just got burned! CM Punk is rolling in agony – it looks like his hands got the worst of that! Edge is lining it up – SPEAR! Edge just speared Punk right in the ribs! He goes for the cover…1….2….Punk kicked out! Only just – that must have been about 2.99999! Edge looks frustrated, and whips Punk into the turnbuckles, but Punk has the sense of mind to rebound himself off and clotheslines Edge!
Punk looks at the flaming mass that surrounds the ring, and begins to smile – getting a great reaction from the crowd – they know what’s coming! Punk stands Edge up, and hits a Rana, sending Edge face first into the cell, dangling from the middle rope! That was a barbaric move by the Champ! Edge manages to get away, but he must have been in the flames for a few moments first! Both guys have now been subjected to these horrific conditions!
CM Punk runs toward the ropes, and jumps, hitting a reverse springboard dropkick on the challenger, ensuring the champ is now in complete control. CM Punk hits a nice uppercut on the now-standing Edge, followed by a low blow! Remember, this is another match with no disqualifications! Edge is rolling around clutching his groin – that’s well funny! CM Punk is laughing with the crowd, and hits an eye gouge. The crowd don’t normally like the faces cheating – but they don’t seem to mind when it’s Punk – after all, he’s doing it more to entertain them than for winning purposes, and they know it!
CM Punk, whose hands still look sort, just picked Edge up, and hits a stiff looking punch right between the eyes. He walks over, and carefully removes one of the flaming turnbuckles! How he did that without further aggravating those burns I’ll never know! He picks Edge up, and hits 10 head rams into the exposed steel – and now the challenger is busted open too! CM Punk is being careful not to expose himself to any more of the fire, and he pulls Edge back before hitting a nice slow armdrag, and holding the elbow lock in place firmly. Edge is on the verge of tapping! But he doesn’t! Instead, he rolls over onto Punk and covers him! 1…2…kick out by Punk, but he doesn’t release the hold, and Edge is in so much pain here – I don’t think he knows where he is! He’s going towards the ropes – don’t do it Edge! It’ll burn! It does! Edge tried to get to the ropes, not taking into account the small fact that they are raging on fire!
Minds MUST be cast back to what was arguably one of the greatest matches this promotion has ever seen at it’s first PPV – the IC title match between GAWD and Assassin in an Inferno in a Cell match. This one is equally brutal and barbaric, and I wouldn’t be surprised if these two were already injured more than the competitors in the first match of this type – they certainly seem to be utilizing the fire more. Back to the action, and Punk has FINALLY released the hold and launched Edge into the cell wall! Edge tried hanging on! He leaps back off the wall is screams of agony, and it looks like he has some liquid metal stuck to his palms! OUCH!
Punk goes to pick Edge up, but Edge somehow musters a low blow of his own, and Punk falls to the mat in pain. Edge then picks Punk’s head up, and slaps him with that hand that had the metal still on it! Punk’s face has been burned now! Edge is still clearly in agony, and so is Punk – this match really shouldn’t be allowed!
Edge sets Punk up for a powerbomb, and hits it nicely. Cover: 1…2….kick out by the champ. Edge argues with the ref before slowly climbing back to his feet, and he hits a few kicks to the face. Edge moves away, he’s lining it up! SPEAR! SPEAR CONNECTED! Edge is gonna cover….but no, he doesn’t. Wait a minute, what the hell is he doing here? He’s stalking Punk who struggles so slowly back to his feet, and hits ANOTHER spear! That’s two spears in quick succession! He goes for the cover…1….2….Edge raised Punk’s shoulder blade from the mat! The cocky SOB! Edge smiles and begins getting in the ref’s face! Punk ROLLS HIM UP! 1…2….kick out by Edge! My god these two are desparate to get this match over with! Edge hits a spear but carries Punk along with him, sending him back first into the cell wall! I think Edge caught the wall too! Both men are unconscious dangerously near the flames!
CM Punk is first to regain consciousness, and he waits for Edge to get back up – nice opportunity for the champ to catch his breath there. Punk jumps to the top rope before immediately rebounding and hitting a reverse springboard missile dropkick on the challenger! Punk is feeling it now! CM Punk runs towards Edge, but Edge catches him and runs him back first into the wall AGAIN! Both men fall to the mat, and are unconscious.
Edge is the first to regain consciousness…..he rolls over, and sees Punk. Edge is smiling! He picks Punk up and props him against the burning turnbuckles! SPEAR! That’s ANOTHER spear by the Challenger! As Punk falls to the mat, Edge turns Punk over for the cover…1…..2…..3! THAT’S IT! NEW CHAMPION!
HERE IS YOUR WINNER, AND NEW WWE CHAMPION: EDGE
Wow! New Champion crowned here on Cyber Sunday! After going so long undefeated, CM Punk has now lost twice in three weeks, culminating ultimately in his losing the WWE Championship! Edge is elated!
Edge is still celebrating in the middle of the ring when the camera fades to the DXX logo.
