I may pick up Tropico 4, I've heard good things about it.

Well Magicka's on sale, not a game I would recommend. Last time I played it which was quite a while since release (I dunno if they've fixed it or anything), but playing the game in multilayer with friends, the game was just ridiculously laggy. Spell casting is a blast, the game just annoys me something bad, granted it's ridiculously silly, just want to point out, they've released....20 DLC!
Painkiller is a good game, just shoot everything in your way until the music stops playing, the battle music is pretty darn epic, the weapons are awesome, may not look the best, but that doesn't matter when it's a fun game. I mean a minigun, which doubles as a rocket launcher

As far as I'm aware it isn't related at all, I've not played them either but for this one the storyline is simple - aliens invade, you command the elite team that fights back.

I'm aware of the story behind XCom (in my first typing I called it CXom ), you have to protect countries from alien attacks and what not, each defense has a number of days for you to complete it right?

That's a part of it yeah, more specifically each country has a 'doom tracker' bar that starts off green, and if it gets to the end and goes red they pull out of the entire war and refuse to give you money and stuff for the cause. If they want help you have about 24 hours to respond, otherwise the bar gradually rises. Annoyingly you always have to pick one of three countries that needs help when the time comes, so it seems impossible to stop a lot of countries from going "f**k this" and running away. My game actually looks quite similar to that, you get SOS calls that have different levels of difficulty which is what you're talking about (ranging from easy to very hard), anything higher than medium difficulty means I get most of my squad killed. The planet is screwed.

Hmmm that actually sounds pretty fun, it's kinda similar to how the side missions in DoW2 were (the vanilla one), on each of the three planets there might've been one or two missions that you could do in an amount of days

I've played the DoW demo, yeah it plays pretty similar to that. Basically find cover, don't get flanked and blow the crap out of anything that comes within 30 feet. If Xcom has a demo definitely try it, there's too much going on to explain through text.

Does how fast your guys dying depend on gear and what not?
Edit: I'll probably wait until it's more cheaper then it is right now. I know it was cheaper earlier, but I wasn't too sure on it.

Yeah, the better armor he wears the more HP he has.
But yeah don't bother with it on Steam at 33% off, I got it from a website called ShopTo which was just over £13. It uses a bonus point system so I used my points to get it down to just over £10, which is about $16 in AUD.

I was able to get L.A. Noire for about $3, surprised at how low it goes cost wise. Needless to say I'm pretty bad at it

That's a really good deal, it's not the best of games but for $3 it's a bargain, I paid full price for it on release and don't regret it.
But yeah I was terrible at it too, but sometimes the accused person's facial expressions don't match their guilt.
Here's a bit of Steam news, there's doing an encore weekend starting in just over 6 hours time as I type this, where they're doing a 'best of' sale day of all the top sellers. So hopefully expect some big games on there, but unfortunately nothing new most likely.

What is DOTA? if it's any good then sure (yes, I was too lazy to type it) I've played RAGE before on the xbox and it was a kickass game and I really enjoyed it, so I may have to get a copy

DOTA2 = Defence of the Ancients.....2
It originally started off as a mod for Warcraft 3, where there are two teams of 5 and they fight in an arena, to get to the enemy teams Ancient, along the way there's turrets which you have to destroy in order to destroy the enemy Ancient. It falls under the MOBA genre (Multi Online Battle Arena). Like any other RTS it uses the same camera angle (which works perfectly for the genre). That's about all I can say on it, it takes time getting used to the gameplay, all heroes are free, but like recent Valve games there's a mini store which you can buy items for some heroes to make them look different then their default.
The encore sale is up. XCom is on sale, still not a price I agree with, in due time hopefully. Trine is a fun puzzle game, I own the 2nd one personally and I really enjoy it.
