At the end of RAW, CM Punk was in the crowd after fleeing from McMahon, Cena and Ryback. While among the fans, the WWE Champ could be seen attacking a male fan who didn't appear to do much wrong. The video can be seen here. What do you guys reckon? A prompt title drop? A fan should never be attacked by a performer unless said performer fears for his own safety. Based on what was captured here, he didn't do much wrong at all, and Punk quite frankly just came out of the whole thing looking like a huge dick. I'm a fan of his personally, but he needs to be reprimanded for this one way or another. Thoughts?

I can only assume he thought the guy who touched him was the dude behind him, but he was looking straight at the guy reaching over to him. I'm wondering if the man who got whacked must have said something to offend Punk, but even then there's rarely a good reason to touch a fan unless your life is in danger or something - which Punk's clearly wasn't.
I think in the current world of WWE when kids are at events and so on he'll likely have the proverbial book thrown at him, but in a weird sort of way it'll be interesting to see what happens. I think he should drop the title and serve a suspension, but that'll ruin the plan of a probable Punk vs Rock title match at WrestleMania not to mention whatever he's doing going into the upcoming PPV this month as the top guy on Raw. I think based on that he'll either drop the title or get suspended, but probably not both.

From that video it does appear that fans that were near him were pushing Punk, but he hit the wrong person I guess.
But either way when you go into the crowd superstars should expect things like that and there is no excuse for Punks actions, I don't see WWE suspending him since he's their top draw at the moment, he'll probably just get a slap in the face and possibly drop the title.

Yeah, watch that one carefully and you can see a hispanic kid taunting him originally, and then a guy BEHIND the one Punk hit who is flipping Punk the bird and then shoving Punk in the head. Punk turns around and thinks its the guy directly behind him, so he lunges at him. It was actually the dude behind the dude behind Punk, if that makes sense According to Larry Brown Sports, the fan has filed a police report against Punk. Now I've seen a different angle of it, I can certainly see why Punk thought it was this guy who shoved him, but he definitely got the wrong bloke so I suppose I don't really blame the fan for taking action - after all, he did nothing wrong and ended up getting attacked by the WWE champ

He definitely needs to drop the title, and shoud be suspended for most of the rest of the year. Not only did he hit a fan, twice, but he hit the wrong fan and he did it recklessly. He should also be suspended and maybe even fired. I've been one of CM Punk's biggest supporters since before he was trained, you guys all know how I've followed his whole career, but there needs to be serious action taken by WWE here.
Linda is running for office, despite everyone knowing she has no chance in hell at winning. If they make it seem like its okay for wrestlers to hit fans, thats only going to cement her loss on the spot. If WWE is smart, they'd suspend or maybe even fire Punk sometime after Hell In A Cell. A guy like Wade Barrett could easily be moved into the top heel position and nothing would be lost.
Punk/Rock at Royal Rumble pretty much would mean Rock/Cena at WM again, and I don't know of anyone who wants to see that happen. From what I've seen of it, Punk's title reign has been dreadful anyway, now's the time to either give the belt to Ryback or back to Cena with or without Punk hitting a fan, and now that he has, I'll have to question how serious Linda takes her campaign if Punk isn't off tv for the next couple months.

Well in the latest update, the dude isn't taking action against Punk at all, which I think is pretty decent of him actually! But Deej, I, like you, am a long-term Punk fan, but drop the title, be suspended for most of the rest of the year and maybe even get fired?! Wow - that IS what I'd call overkill And yes I realise that this will pretty much contradict my initial reactions, but new videos etc have come out since I made that post which pretty much vindicate Punk (to a certain extent). No company in their right mind would fire (or, now I've had a think about it, likely even suspend) Punk for doing what he did. What right did that dick behind the victim have to hit Punk (on more than one occasion, I might add). Punk was being mauled by several of the fans, and while yes granted it was probably a bit of a stupid place to go, WWE have admitted their security protocol is what failed in this instance. But in what the hell walk of life does ANYONE have the right to lay their hands on another person in an agressive manner and STILL not expect repercussions? Punk defended himself - yes, he got the wrong guy. Yes, he probably even over-reacted, but the guy has a right to defend himself. And plus, try telling me this hasn't given WWE absolute gold to turn this into a storyline to further Punk's heel gimmick? The bloke has, in my opinion, CEMENTED his place in WWE as opposed to putting it in jeopardy. It wasn't intentional I'm sure, but I flatly refuse to accept that he didn't do what any other guy would do in those circumstances.

If this was Randy Orton, every body on most boards would say he should be fired, CM Punk gets ridiculous special treatment, and I wont give him that. Anyone who hits a fan, The Rock, John Cena, I don't care - they should be fired. Especially with Linda's campaign. CM Punk is a wrestler, he has been for over a decade, if he doesn't know he can't hit fans send his ass out the door. If I was getting hit by someone chances are I'm hitting back if its not a child or a lady, but if I was a pro wrestler for the WWE? f**k that, you have to learn to keep your emotions in check, thats the first rule of pro wrestling in my opinion.
And if it involves CM Punk, chances are its not going to be a golden angle, it'll likely suck like everything he's done since 2009 has.
