Source: twitchy.com/2012/08/15/wwe-fans-fear-linda-mcmahons-primary-win-means-less-sex-and-violence/ _________________________________________ I actually agree with them, theres those people who say "Lindas senate run made WWE go PG" and those who say it didn't, I'm one of those people who believe Linda McMahon made WWE go PG so it wouldn't look as bad on her, and if she wins senate I think the WWE Product would get worse. You don't need TV-14 to have a good product, but a little blood here and there (an example: when Brock Lesnar attacked HBK, if HBK was bleeding it would have made the scene better and made Brock Lesnar look like more of a monster). it wouldn't be a bad thing.

There's a lot more to it than Linda's senate run to consider as to why WWE went PG, although WWE have acknowledged it as being a key reason. There's also: - Less injuries, and even deaths. It's pretty much accepted that Chris Benoit's murder-suicide atrocities were as a result of many unprotected chair shots to the head, in fact he was one of the few who willingly took a shot to the back of the head which was a really stupid thing to do. Since then stuff like chairshots and piledrivers have been banned, as have really high-risk stuff which is why ladder matches generally aren't as spectacular as they used to be. Transferred blood diseases are also more common today than they used to be which is another reason why bloodshed has been banned. - Young fans are a renewable source. How many people from the Attitude era still regularly watch wrestling? Not many, and not just because WWE has gone PG. WWE is simply a hobby when it comes to watching it, the same as Pokemon, Spongebob, Dexter, Jersey Shore - my point is everyone gets bored of watching the same thing after so many years. Tastes change, people become more mature, and eventually they move on to something else. The fact that WWE is PG means that once say, 10 year old Johnny starts eventually starts high school and loses interest in the WWE he's already been replaced by 8 year old Jimmy, who'll attend shows, get his parents to buy PPV's and so on just like Johnny's parents did before him. WWE being PG means there will always been that renewable source of fans unlike there was 10 or 15 years ago, aiming the product at kids makes sense from a financial point of view. - Speaking of finances, sponsorship is another issue. WWE probably makes millions more in sponsor deals now than it did a few years ago, and obviously gains more exposure through other media outlets like kids magazines and general TV adverts at important times of the day because it's something the whole family can enjoy. Moving RAW to a more prime time slot recently helps as well, it gains them more and more viewers. Yeah, that's about all I've got. You're right about Linda and her senate run but hopefully that paints the bigger picture.

kids watched WWE back when it was at it's shittiest (height of the attitude era) and that's why we have so many douchebags running around. You're not gunna lose money or kids if a guy blades or if Cena drops the word "Ass" without it being bleeped. That being said I'll keep watching so long as the matches are good.
