Here is a guide to UBBC. For those that don't know, UBBC is the code that Proboards uses to give visual effects and perform set functions. Here they are:
Text Effects
Bold - type [b][/b] around the text. Therefore, [b]Hello[/b] becomes Hello
Underlined - type [u][/u] around the text. Therefore, [u]Hello[/u] becomes Hello
Italics - type [i][/i] around the text. Therefore, [i]Hello[/i] becomes Hello
Center - to center text, type [center][/center] around the text. Therefore, [center]Hello[/center] becomes
Colour / Color - to add colour, simply type [color="colour here"][/color] around the text. Therefore, [color=red]Hello[/color] becomes Hello, or [color=blue]Hello[/color] becomes Hello - Please note, use the American spelling "color", not the British spelling of "colour".
Moving text - to make text move, type [move][/move] around the text. Therefore, [move]Hello[/move] becomes
Images
Images are easy. Simply type [img][/img] around the URL to your image. So for example, [img src="http://i.imgur.com/lFEOj.png"] becomes
Note: to center an image, simply use the center tags around the [img][/img] tags, therefore [center][img]IMAGE URL HERE[/img][/center]. You can mix and match alot of these combinations together.
To resize an image, you can do this:
[img width=x height=x]IMAGE URL HERE[/img] (replace the "x's" with height and width values).
So therefore, the code for images above, using the width=400 and height=100, and including the center tag, would be [center][img width=400 height=100 src="http://i.imgur.com/lFEOj.png"][/center], which then becomes:
Links
To make a direct link, you can do one of two things.
First, simply paste the link, for example www.google.com
OR
To make is simply appear as "Google", you can type this:
[url=http://www.google.com]Google[/url] which will then appear like this:
Google
No UBBC Code[/u]
If you wish to display the UBBC code, as I have done here, rather than having the forum translate it as UBBC, simply use the [noubbc][/noubbc] tags around the text. Therefore
[noubbc][b]Hello[/b][/noubbc] becomes
[b]Hello[/b]
Linking Images[/u]
This is a little more complex, as it takes us into the next level of UBBC coding.
To link an image, you could type like this:
[url=http://dxxfta.proboards.com][img src="http://i.imgur.com/lFEOj.png"][/url]. This would then be translated like this:
See? By first instructing the forum to recognise the URL, it will then wrap whatever is inside these tags to become clickable to the URL you stated, in this case this website's home address. A bit tricky at first, but you will soon get used to it :-)
YouTube Videos
If you wish to include a YouTube video in your post, this can also be easily done using UBBC code. If you are in the full posting screen, simply click this button: . Then insert your video ID (the number at the end of the URL) inside the youtube tags. If you wish to do this manually (perhaps you are in the quick reply box for example), then type , once again inserting your video ID into the middle of the tags.
Therefore, [video src="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mvtm0Q8qgI"][/video] becomes
If anyone can think of other UBBC codes and tricks, please let me know by replying to this thread and I'll update this guide accordingly. All codes displayed above can be selected using the drop-down menu when creating a new thread, or replying without using the quick-reply box.
