I doubt anyone here will have heard of this (yet), but I just wanted to let you know a bit about a big development in my life over the last month or so.
Over Christmas, I started feeling the itch to get back into football journalism, for which I am the proud owner of a BA(Hons) degree. I wrote to my former editor at football website A Different League, and he took me back on to write for the site again.
Shortly thereafter, I was also offered another job with another company - in a paid position providing written copy for publications. I was chuffed.
Anyway, to cut a much longer story short, I began writing for a new national newspaper called "Football Extra". It's a betting orientated newspaper, and to be honest initially I didn't think much would come of it - but I was surprised to see two copies sitting in a local newsagent in Southampton on the launch of the first issue, and so promptly purchased them both. My family have bought copies up in Co. Durham too - so it is definitely available nationally ()
My initial assignment earned me a full page of writing straight away - and in next week's issue I should have more like 5 pages or so, with my name in the paper and everything.
I just wanted to fill everyone in on it. I'm not plugging the paper and saying "go buy it" or anything, but if any of you guys happen to see a copy in your newsagents, pick it up and have a sly peek - I write the Scottish First through Third Divisions, and this week I'm also doing a Premier League fixture (Liverpool v Swansea), an FA Cup match (Chelsea v Brentford) and the Blue Square Premier League roundup, so busy days hopefully lay ahead. :-)
