Who here watched the first episode of Red Dwarf X last week? I did, and while I didn't think it was anywhere near the level of classic episodes such as Gunmen of the Apocalypse and my personal all-time favourite episode Legion, I think it got things off to a strong start. It's a million times better than Back to Earth in my opinion, though I think much of the criticism directed towards Series VIII was a bit harsh though that was far from one of the best - but this tenth series has definitely taken the show back to it's best settings - and I'm personally hoping it will prove as triumphant as some of the moments from the first episode seemed to promise. For those that don't know, Red Dwarf ran a highly successful show until 1999, when Series VIII ended on a cliffhanger which was never resolved. Three special episodes were made in 2009, but the continuity was out of the window - there wasn't really any explanation of the previous series' ending, though it's been hinted we might just see what happened during this series, 13 years after the last episode (not including the three specials). For anyone that missed it or is interested in checking it out, here is the full episode:
