Leonardo DiCaprio has to be up there in terms of actors, and Meryl Streep for actresses in my opinion.

no one beats Tom Hanks . that man has my respect for life, he's simply flawless. Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson also get my highest praises. I have to stay James Franco will become a top contender for this title though. that man is rising astronomically.
as for actresses, yes, Meryl Streep is up there, but i have to say Natalie Portman can do anything. that woman is just .... great. i have to say I really enjoy Angelina Jolie, it's a shame she never really had THAT one role to stand off in her great career and which pushed her to the limit. I feel i have the need to name 3 more actresses that really deserve more spotlight than they get: Jennifer Connelly, Ellen Page and Winona Rider .

All time favorites for me include: Johnny Depp, Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt and a few others i'm too tired to bother thinking off... I like Robert Downey Jr, I think he's growing into a brilliant actor and I can't wait to see what the future holds for him

In terms of individual acting performance, I have to say Heath Ledger as The Joker in The Dark Knight was pretty awesome. Apart from that I'd say Johnny Depp or Leonardo DiCaprio as Assy said. For actress, I'd probably have to go with Angelina Jolie.

Leonardo DiCaprio.
Putting Leo and Johnny Depp in the same sentence is criminal.

Johnny Depp, Gary Oldman, Robert Downey Jr
Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio
Tom Hanks, Jack Nicholson
I also really liked Kirsten Dunst as Claudia in Interview with the Vampire and Hailee Steinfeld as Mattie Ross in True Grit.

Just been reminded of a gentlemen I'd forgotten about, an actor called Peter Capaldi. He's not particularly well known but he starred in something called Torchwood which airs on the BBC as a spinoff to Doctor Who and Capaldi stars throughout series 3 which is known as Children of Earth.
I won't spoil it but it is incredible if you ever decide to watch it, and Capaldi put in probably the best performance I've ever seen on television. I dunno who's seen it but those who have will know what I mean.

Sacha Baron Cohen is quality for comedy films. Robert Downey Jr. is good and Tom Hanks will forever be loved by me for his role as Forrest Gump. However, the best TV actor I have ever seen is Benedict Cumberbatch for his role in Sherlock - mesmerising. Also, Ty Burrell is quality in Modern Family.
As for actresses, I have absolutely loved Helena Bonham-Carter since her various Harry Potter appearances and her role in The King's Speech.

Also, Ty Burrell is quality in Modern Family. damn, yes, how could i forget him? that guy was a genius. one of the best performances i've ever seen , if i'm honest. GREAT play by him in the series, always, in every episode.. Well, I might be biased as Phil is my fave character, but i genuinely believe Ty Burrell didnt mess up one single time. Same with Nolan Gould, that kid will be one of the best actors in the game, you'll see
