OK, this topic is designed for both myself and hopefully anyone else who wants to take part to hopefully hear some new music that they like. What I'm going to do is listen to every album posted in this topic (or at least as much as I can stand or have time for) and give my thoughts and a rating out of 10, and if others want to do the same I'll obviously share some music I've heard that someone might like.
A great site to listen to albums is Grooveshark, but I'm not sure about country restrictions so bear with me on that one.
I'll start us off with In Absentia by British progressive rock band Porcupine Tree. A sample for you:

In Absentia - 8/10 I can only take anything by Porcupine Tree in small doses for much the same reason as Dream Theatre - one or two songs is fine, a full album I get rather bored. However, "IA" is more diverse than any of their other releases and can keep me hooked long enough to listen for a full play through, though I still think it's missing a certain something to make it an actual classic :/ Catch For Us The Foxes - mewithoutYouJust because I've been in a mwY mood as of late And a sample

Catch For Us The Foxes - 6/10 6 might look like a low score, but it's still 3/5 if you look at it that way. I did enjoy the album on the whole, but I wasn't keen on the vocal style. You know when an athlete wins the 1500 meter run and he immediately has a microphone shoved in his face to describe his feelings? He's obviously completely knackered, and the mewithoutYou vocalist sounds like he's just run a marathon and then turned up to record an album. Musically though it was very good, my favourite track was Carousels. Need moar

I quite enjoyed that, the vocals in particular impressed me. "And So She Fell For The Snake" has a really interesting sound, a solid 8/10. I liked your page on Facebook, looking forward to the EP.

Okapi - 7/10 Sounds a lot like the Artic Monkeys, just with heavier and stronger musicianship. I was rather impressed I must admit.
My mate's band's one and only track (so far):
Ignore the f**king horrid logo, I made it in about an hour without neatening it up or making it look sharper as they wanted something to fill the video :L
Also; my mate sounds like a right twat on the spoken part, so rip it out of him :L

I quite liked Shotgun Syndrome, a little rough around the edges but really promising. Good teaser vid too Buzz, what do you play in the band? As we're on the subject of bands and those of us with mates in them, this is Foreboding Ether, and my favourite track by them. It's progressive deathcore so there's a warning for you Buzz.

Really nice song that, I might put the album on disk and play it to my dad. Sometimes I do that and we listen to it when I visit my folks for dinner, so far he loves The Black Mages, Anathema, Machinae Supremacy and a folk rock band called Harmaja among others. Gonna try you out on a band called Amesoeurs, a band from France closely affiliated with Alcest. It's the same style of music as well but with much more of a black metal influence: Hauntingly beautiful. My next post will be something more accessible, promise.

I really, really enjoyed that, kinda like a less punky Rise Against which is by no means a bad thing. A solid 8/10 from me on that one, great stuff. Favourite track was '45.'

If you like 45, their album American Slang may be of interest too. In fact, anything Gaslight Anthem they're so amazing <3
