We've had talk about who might win it, but what about the fight to stay up at the other end of the Premier League? Here's the current bottom half of the league table: Realistically it's a battle between the current bottom four teams, as Swansea and above have enough about them to stay clear of the chasing pack. Sunderland are currently out of the relegation zone after a good run in recent months, Aston Villa are down without a doubt leaving Norwich and Newcastle who have both been almost as hopeless all season. I think Newcastle will go down if they keep Steve McLaren in charge. Interestingly rumours of Rafael Benitez coming in are running rampant which would be fantastic for the club, and I believe if he's in charge before their next game he'll keep them up at Sunderland's expense. As mentioned Villa are a certainty to go down after getting destroyed by every team including their won under 21's, and Norwich will most likely join them.

Great topic Judas Hehe I came on this morning with the intention of starting this discussion up, I actually think Sunderland may have enough about them as our performances under Allardyce have been much, much better. Then again, we still struggle at times with that age old problem of getting to the halfway line then needing a sat nav to get much further - the creativity at times when the ball goes up top is woeful at best. Newcastle will probably pick up under someone like Benitez, but if he does go there I can't see it being a long term deal as he's not the yes man type of manager that Mike Ashley loves, though I could see him going there tasked with the sole purpose of keeping them up - which I think he can, and would, manage quite happily. I think Norwich will be down yet again unfortunately, and the last space will be either ourselves or the Geordies. I don't particularly want Newcastle to go down as without them there isn't that little benchmark each season - being a Sunderland fan, where we finish in relation to the Geordies gives us something of a sub-objective that wasn't there last time they went down. However, if it comes down to either Sunderland or Newcastle, obviously I'd want Sunderland to stay up and Newcastle to go down and it could go right down to the wire, but I have a funny feeling it will be sorted over the course of the next few games.

I could go on and on about this, but to be short and sweet, I really hope Sunderland go down. (Sorry Jamie.) I'm a big Sunderland fan, Jamie got me into them, but they've been hanging on and on for I don't know how many seasons and they deserve to be shaken. They buy good but then make shitty sellings and loans, which makes me cringe. They disband the team every year, selling the best players for low and no costs for the other teams, so I think going down would bring the drastic change they need. Sunderland bosses need some humility.
